A radical faction of the Mexican administration intent on reconquista!

The President calls Grace

Grace trails a terrorist across the Middle East, the Pacific and Mexico, after interference ruins her aim. Sahm Mahaz bin Batal, terrorist financier and death merchant, has gained control of the most secret - and least expected - defense weapons the US has ever deployed. Allied with a bitter enemy of the United States, he is bent on destruction of the United States.

Despite gunfights, exploding houses and an embarrassing pair of wounds, the president tasks Grace to put an end to the madness – the war that should never have happened.

She runs into trouble when escaping her mission. She couldn't resist dealing with the man she considered responsible for enabling the war. And causing the death of a best friend.

A RECKONING IS COMING

In an explosive first novel, Texan Terry Money paints a grim picture of reconquista, the recapture of US lands which once belonged to Mexico in a tale as topical as today’s headlines. In The Cinco de Mayo Reckoning, Money boldly exposes the weaknesses of the nation’s 12,000 miles of border and describes the attitudes of many third-world countries about America’s ability and resolve to protect itself, and its people, from a war fought on its own soil.

Gaining control of a satellite-controlled weapon developed by a brilliant pair of beautiful young twins, radical factions controlled by Mexican President Sebastian Balbo, attempt to surgically cut off several western and southwestern states and to mobilize this country’s millions of undocumented Mexicans living in the US. American military forces, stretched thin by international obligations, mostly in the Middle East, must defend its own soil with weapons that threaten its citizenry as much as it does the invaders.

With help from a notorious arms dealer from the Middle East and a US-trained computer expert, the invaders hack the computer codes to control the space-based weapon system and use it to attempt to seal off seven states to form what they call Aztlan, expecting a new US president to back down rather than risk the slaughter of millions of his citizens.

Only a covert operation under the direction of Grace, an operative and assassin for an unnamed US espionage agency, stands between Balbo and his plot to regain control of the US territory and its wealth. She must deal with overwhelming odds, and is forced to rely on the mysterious Ishmael. Is he really an ally or is he from an anti-American Middle Eastern power with an agenda of his own? Will she be able to rely on the rookie Filipina agent? Will the young scientists be able to regain control of the satellite codes? Will Mexican immigrants, legal and illegal, defend their adopted land or join Balbo’s mad scheme? Will the US President be forced to either accede to the Mexican President’s demands or to launch weapons of mass destruction against the innocent people of Mexico, most of whom have no part in Balbo’s sneak attack?

A fresh and gentle voice tells a violent story, without inducing the reader with such artifices as sex, romance, or foul language. The story builds with a sublime and surprising speed from a botched assassination attempt by Grace of an Arab terrorist who goes on to secure and transfer the satellite codes to the Mexican radicals. Seriously wounded, second-generation American Grace must push her injured body at a break-neck pace in an effort to thwart the Balbo plot.
